The Fine Wine

Deep Sea 2012 : After passing some time underwater, the pressure in the recovered bottle is
still vivid and ejects the cork like the best of ancient Frerejean canons. The champagne developed notes of brioche that underline the gourmet roundness of the Chardonnay. On the palate it is full with very fine bubbles at first, but then it opens with freshness, minerality and a touch of salinity, inviting us for a second sip.

Extra Brut 2006 : This cuvée is only produced in exceptional years. 2006 is a superb vintage, with rich, complex aromas. The blend of chardonnays and pinots noirs, combined with this vintage's long years of ageing on the lees, give it an excellent balance of body and volume.
The roundness and length of the Pinot Noir and the freshness and finesse of the Chardonnay, enhanced by a very light extra brut dosage, develop aromas of dried and candied fruit.

VV26 : Aged for 9 years and sealed with a staple, as tradition dictates, our Blanc des Blancs champagne is both creamy and mineral.
Our Chardonnay grapes come from the ninety-year-old Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes. Some of these vines even date back to 1926.
This grand cru has matured for twelve months in barrels and blends the best of the 2008, 2009 and 2012 harvests from our Côte des Blancs vineyards. Notes of toasted almond, vanilla cream and subtle spices, enhanced by a delicate mousse.

The Estate

Created in 2005, Frerejean Frères is a Champagne of character; both complex and elegant, produced from some of the best parcels across the Côte des Blancs, in particular the Grand Cru village of Avize. The production process honours the land, with minimal interference. The three founders, Guillaume, Richard and Rodolphe Frerejean-Taittinger, cousins to the Champagne house of Taittinger. They’re the latest generation in a line of cannon-makers, who supplied the French army defending the region against the Prussians, during the Napoleonic Wars. As children, they rode their bikes through the vines of the Côte des Blancs and knew every single one in the area. Their 30 years of expertise come from a team rooted in the region who are proud to call Avize home. The brothers partnered with Didier Pierson, a 5th Generation Chef de Cave from Avize and together they have developed an approach insisting on working exclusively with Grand and Premier Cru parcels of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Crafting a bottle of Frerejean Frères takes at least five years, and up to twelve years for vintage releases. This immense dedication to the ageing process allows minimal dosage for the finer notes of the terroir to shine through. We are honoured to give the 3 rare bottles of some of our best vintages. The very first 2005 vintage, the unforgettable 2008 and the very complex 2012. At Frerejean Frères we release vintages only during the best years.
