The Experience

Serradenari, with its 6.5 ha of vineyards and 12 ha of centuries-old forest, is a unique place where the close connection between vineyards, Italian Alps, and forest create the perfect balance to enjoy the region's most beautiful and precious fruits: Barolo and white truffles. Led by Giulia Negri and an expert naturalist, we will explore the natural environment and history of Serradenari, while a truffle hunter and his dog will reveal the secrets of the white truffle, from its life cycle to research methods and the significance of truffle culture. This will be followed by a fine wine dinner hosted by Giulia Negri and an overnight stay at the luxury boutique spa hotel Dai Gresy in Barbaresco for 4 guests.

The Estate

Serradenari is the highest altitude MGA in the Barolo wine region and is renowned for its panoramic view over the surrounding vineyards and the imposing amphitheatre of the Italian Alps. Today the estate is composed of 6,5 ha of vineyards and 12 ha of centuries-old forest.
Serradenari and the Diatto-Negri family have been bound to one another over the course of history.

Acquired by Engineer Diatto, a pioneer who created the first Turin-manufactured car and the French electric tramway, Serradenari was steeped in wine passion since 1870. Giulia's grandfather dedicated his retirement to preserving the landscape and the centuries-old forest, while Giulia's father replanted Nebbiolo, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in 2001.

Giulia Negri’s entrance into the estate began in 2013 which marked a turning point for Serradenari. With a masters degree in biotechnology management and a true passion for wine, she brought her own experiences from the New World, Burgundy, and the Langhe to Serradenari. Under her leadership, the estate embraced a philosophy which has extended beyond the vineyards to embrace the natural rhythms of the overall property, including the surrounding forest.

Each year, meticulous effort is made to manage, selectively prune, and replant ancient plant species, demonstrating a commitment to integrated land management. In her vineyard practices, Giulia places particular emphasis on respecting the vine-forest relationship which fosters genuine biodiversity and healthy balance.

Based on the recognition of the central role of phenolic ripeness in achieving a wine's balance and harmony, Giulia started dividing the vineyard into sub-parcels in 2015. This led to the discovery of the broad diversity of soils within the property which has resulted in the production of three single vineyard bottlings of Barolo.

Cellar work is guided by the philosophy of minimal intervention with the aim to create wines that authentically reflect their terroir.

Our mission at Serradenari is to focus on a deep understanding of the ecosystem that has been preserved here for generations. This inherited knowledge is essential in addressing our future challenges.
