The Experience
VIP tour and tasting in our winery followed by a fine fine wine dinner in our restaurant Drogheria Franci hosted by Fabio Tassi or a representative of the winery and one night stay at our Inn Locanda Franci in the heart of Montalcino for 4 guests.
The Estate / Distillery
The Tassi winery finds its roots in the figure of Guido Franci, founder of the family. Guido, was born in Greppo in 1910 and since he was a boy he worked as a farmer for the Biondi Santi family, taking care of the vineyards, the estate and the various activities of the farm.
Between the end of the 1950s and the beginning of the 1960s, after experimenting with different types of activities including bird making, he decided to devote himself full time to beekeeping, which has always been his great passion, founding the Franci company.
The family business grows thanks to the son Roberto and the daughter Franca and, subsequently, to the son-in-law Giuseppe Tassi, so, very soon, the Tassi and Franci companies make themselves known throughout the area to become one of the reference companies, at national, for the production of quality honey. At the beginning of the 90s, Fabio Tassi, son of Franca Franci and Giuseppe Tassi, who for years has taken the reins of the family business, renovates the premises used for the direct sale of honey and inaugurates the Drogheria Franci shop specialised in sales of wines and quality products
of the territory, improving it over the years to become, as it is today, one of the reference
restaurants in the area.
Driven by the love for Montalcino and its land, inherited from his grandfather Guido, and aware of the need for continuous entrepreneurial innovation, in the following years Fabio began to manage the historic Enoteca located inside the Fortezza di Montalcino which he then joined other quality commercial and hospitality activities, seizing opportunities for growth and improvement every day. Originally, the cellar of the Tassi company was organised within the historic company complex owned by the family used for the production of honey, the company's first great artisan product.The idea of the Tassi family, however, has always been to be able to allocate a building in itself to the processing and production of wine, where wine was the real protagonist and the spaces were conceived according to its birth and refinement. In 2017 the project takes shape, and 2019 sees the first fully vinified harvest in the new cellar, a few minutes from the historic centre of Montalcino.
