Salon is a unique champagne. Defined by its singularity from the very beginning, this exceptional wine is the champagne of a single terroir: the Côte des Blancs; a single cru: Le Mesnil-sur-Oger; a single grape variety: Chardonnay; a single year: that of a great vintage; and of one man: Eugène-Aimé Salon. Just 37 vintages were produced in the 20th century, a unique phenomenon in the world of wine. Every vintage is different from any other and incarnates a perfect dream. In 2013 as always, Salon is its enigmatic self, the gift of abundant vines, the work of human hands, of spirit, expertise, and its extraordinary origins.

A great Champagne is first and foremost a great wine. This is the golden rule in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, where Delamotte was founded in 1760. If Delamotte is one of the five oldest champagne houses, it is because we respect the traditions, we are dedicated to flavour and we craft our wines in the heart of the legendary Côte des Blancs terroir. Produced exclusively from grands crus Chardonnay, the Delamotte speciality of Blanc de Blancs is occasionally released as a vintage. Some of the greatest vintages have been cellared for a longer period on their lees and disgorged upon request after a minimum of 15 years. These collection wines, from which the gorgeous 2008, are majestic in stature, fully developed while retaining their vivid freshness and tone, mellowed by the years.

Please mind the magnums will not be signed.

The Experience

Champagne Salon and Champagne Delamotte are proud to offer an exclusive tour and tasting party for up to 8 guests at their premises.

The houses are located next door to each other in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of the most celebrated grand cru villages of the Côte des Blancs in Champagne.

This experience is an immersion into Champagne by two of the region’s most renowned houses, both specialists of the Blanc de Blancs style.

As guests of Champagne Salon and Champagne Delamotte you will enjoy a private tour of these historic houses, their cellars and the legendary vineyard "Le Jardin". This will be followed by a tasting spanning the entire Champagne Delamotte range, from the classical Brut non-vintage blend to the Blanc de Blancs, Delamotte’s calling card. You will also have the chance to taste the current release of Champagne Salon.

The Estate

A great Champagne is first and foremost a great wine. This is the challenge that drives Champagne Delamotte and its sister house, the mythical Champagne Salon, both located in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, France, one of the most prized Grand Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs. The two sister houses share the same ambition : delivering all wine connoisseurs around the world the greatest expression of Grand Cru Chardonnay of Champagne.

Founded in 1760 by vineyard owner François Delamotte, and as such the fifth oldest house of the region, Champagne Delamotte, is the right Champagne for enjoying it as an aperitif for the sheer pleasure of sharing Champagne, matching it with delicate dishes, savouring it when dining at a fine restaurant or for a casual picnic. Occasions to share a bottle of Champagne Delamotte are as varied as spontaneous.

The fruit of one single terroir, the Côte des Blancs, one single growth, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, one single grape varietal, Chardonnay, one single exceptional year, Champagne Salon makes an exception to its rule. These rare vintages - thirty seven in a century - are chosen for their perfection and are available after being cellared in the bottle for an average of ten years, revealing a rare combination of complexity and finesse. Champagne Salon is the vision of a wine aesthete, Eugène Aimé Salon, who created in 1905 the first Blanc de Blancs Champagne ever. The limited production is the fruit of historically selected plots, of which one is essential: le Jardin Salon. Balance is the embodiment of perfection at this precise location.

Terms & Conditions

Booking by mutual agreement from Monday to Thursday mornings inclusive, to be organised at least 3 months in advance, and to be redeemed by 1st December 2025. Up to 8 adult guests. Travel is not included, for which the successful bidder is responsible for organising and booking. Hosting conditions subject to prevailing sanitary rules.
