The Estate
Less than a kilometre from the iconic Saint-Emilion bell tower, Château Angélus is nestled on the prized south-facing "foot of the hill" and has been the lifework of eight generations of the Boüard de Laforest family.
In 1954, during the first classification of Saint-Emilion wines, Château Angélus was recognized as a Grand Cru Classé. Its solid reputation helped it navigate the Bordeaux wine crisis of 1973 and participate in the oenological renewal of the 1980s. Hubert de Boüard de Laforest, a Bordeaux University-trained oenologist, embraced this legacy, implementing innovative and ambitious policies aimed at excellence in winemaking.
Today, Angélus is led by Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, the eighth generation of her family to helm the estate. As the third woman to guide Angélus, she has a deep, almost physical connection to the land, drawing courage and determination from it. Entrusted with significant responsibilities in 2012, Stéphanie remains committed to the values that have defined her family: integrity, hard work, humility, and a sense of duty.
Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal continues the legacy of her father and ancestors, ensuring that Angélus, a name synonymous with excellence and timelessness, continues to shine for generations to come.
