"The Ornellaia story is one of vision and determination. Established in 1981, from its very beginning Ornellaia has been dedicated to producing one of the greatest wines in the world and sees this pursuit of excellence as part of its Tuscan identity. The Ornellaia style has been shaped by Bolgheri’s proximity to the sea and by the passion of all those who work in the winery. Owned by the Frescobaldi family, many men and women have defined it's story.
The Ornellaia estate lies hidden in the foothills that face the Mediterranean coast close to Bolgheri. Most of the Ornellaia vineyards are situated on the hillside above and around the village. In addition to direct sunlight, the vineyards benefit from the reflection of the light on the sea nearby and an exceptional microclimate that enhances the Mediterranean character of the wines.
The vines are divided into a mosaic of more than 70 different plots according to soil type, exposition and varietal. The best possible quality is reached through meticulous work in the vineyard, mostly executed by hand to respect the specific character of each parcel."
